Prof. Wu attended one of the sessions of the Forum. This session had the theme called ‘Exploring Strategic Pathways for China’s Urban Development in Times of Great Changes’. He gave a speech with the title of ‘Governing Urban Development in China’. He shared his insights in terms of the changing features of urban governance in China based on the concept of ‘state entrepreneurialism’ he proposed and promoted. He introduced different stages of urban governance with distinctive features and demonstrated the theoretical perspectives which try to capture these features and the changes. He then gave a critic on these thoughts and presented the concept of state entrepreneurialism which could better reflect the features.

Beijing Forum is a high-profile international academic conference backed by the Ministry of Education and the State Council of China and Beijing Government. It is held annually in Beijing by inviting leading international researchers and practitioners to discuss global challenges and propose recommendations.
