Urban neighbourhood goverance under Chinese modernisation. Beijing, China. 09/12/2024.

Invited by Public Service and Data Management Bureau of Beijing Government, Prof. Wu gave a keynote speech on urban neighbourhood goverance under Chinese modernisation at ‘2024 Beijing Forum on Swift Response to Public Complaints – New Chapter’. During the speech, he introduced the changing modes of governance at the neighbourhood level and proposed recommendations for improvement. Before the forum, Prof. Wu visited the workplace of The 12345 Hotline to learn about the process of dealing with public demand and complaints.

This forum was held by Beijing Government to highlight the importance of ‘people-centred’ mode of governance. The concept of ‘swift response to public complaints’, which means quickly providing solutions to public demand and complaints mainly through The 12345 Hotline, is a main way to achieve the governance mode.
