Rethinking China’s Urban Governance Workshop III. Wuhan, China. 26/11/2024.
Funded by the ERC project, Prof. Fulong Wu organised the third workshop on China’s urban governance at Wuhan University in Wuhan, China on 26/11/2024.
Following the previous workshops successfully held at Fudan University and Shanghai Jiaotong University, this third workshop was held at Wuhan University. The theme of the workshop remained the same, but there were fresh and different theoretical and empirical studies to further the discussions on the topic.
The workshop was chaired by Prof. Zhigang Li (Dean of School of Urban Design) and Dr. Sainan Lin. The workshop consisted of discussions and presentations. The programme of the presentations are as follows.
- Prof. Zhigang Li (Wuhan University). ‘The experiment of spatial planning in Hubei Province under state entrepreneurialism’.
- Mr. Lianying Bao (Ying Yi Consulting). ‘The role of local government platform companies in urban governance: using the development of Huangpu and Minhang in Shanghai as an example’.
- Prof. Yan Guo (Wuhan University). ‘The development mode and efficiency of the transformation of urban villiages under the regulation of ecological space in Wuhan’.
- Dr. Cheng Liu (China University of Geosciences). ‘Evolution of governance for sustainable development (GSD) in China: A land perspective’.
- Dr. Zhe Gao (Central China Normal University). ‘De-centreing grassroot urban governance: Urban message board and social media.
- Dr. Sainan Lin (Wuhan Univeristy). ‘State entrepreneurialism in neighborhood governance: Co-creation of Jianghanli community in Wuhan’.
- Dr. Ziming Li (Wuhan University). ‘Embedding city revival into state-driven innovation system: Unravelling the state-local entrepreneurial toolkits for innovation in the case of Xi’an, China’.
The workshop fostered productive discussions.
